Local Area – Holmfirth

With the Pennine Way running through our moor the Upper Holme Valley provides some of the finest walking country imaginable with amazing views.

The Fleece Inn at Holme is within walking distance and has excellent pub/restaurant facilities, where visitors can enjoy wonderful hospitality combined with the finest cuisine.  It is open for food from Tuesday to Sunday each week.  The pub is also the home of The Fleece Pantry which is open during pub opening hours and provides a good range of homemade breads, pies, cakes and other provisions, seasonal vegetables, milk, cream, eggs, hot and cold sandwiches.

Holmfirth is three miles away and provides a wide selection of eating places to suit every taste. Here you can find most of your everyday needs, a good supermarket and a good variety of gift and souvenir shops.  As well as being the home of ‘Last of the Summer Wine’, Holmfirth has an annual Music FestivalFood and Drink Festival, Art Week, Festival of Folk, Brass Band Contest, Tractor Rally; weekly country markets, and is also home to Bamforth Postcards.

We are situated in the Peak District National Park and are within easy reach of the Derbyshire Dales, North York Moors National Park, Yorkshire Dales National Park.

With Huddersfield just 10 miles away, the M1 and M62 motorways are within easy reach providing access to the major cities of Bradford, Leeds, Manchester, Wakefield and Sheffield.  Both Leeds Bradford Airports and Manchester are within a one hour commute.
